Doc Holiday the Straight Shooter

Val Kilmer is yet again gracing the silver screen in McGruber, the SNL spin off film featuring Will Forte.
Kilmer in his prime, in films like The Doors and Tombstone, was a suave sexy gentleman. Now, taking into consideration time and age, Kilmer is a shadow of his old looking self, but I'm still digging him. He will never reach the status of Robert Downey Jr., but he is on the tops, well above Tom Cruise.
As Doc Holiday, I'm down.
As Jim Morrison, I'm in.
As Gay Perry in Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, I'm slightly turned off.
In McGruber, we'll see...

Thought I'd Give You My Loving

This Rolling Stones track from 28 years ago is killer. It's perma stuck in my head while I slave a away at my 9-5 job.
I haven't been that big into the Stones, but this song might turn my interest around. I must confess that I have been wearing a Stones shirt for 2 years, without actually fully supporting the band. Sure I support the icons Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, but not yet the music. This is going to change.

Photographic Phantasy

Inspiration is key.
I find it in the simplest of things:
nature, a photograph, a tiny musical rift.
It's all fair game.
Inspiration can come from anywhere.
Next step creation
or appropriation.

Sweat It OUT!

This track was playing during my water aerobics class and I have to say I am a fan. Sweating it out to Madonna is key. I'm not usually a huge supporter of Madge but this song is magic. And Pharrell Williams= something so sexy I can't even comprehend.

Thanks to Lance Bass...

I always find this completely ironic, but when I was the tender age of 12, I had a poster of Lance Bass on my bedroom wall. I remember staring at it daily, thinking that he was the cutest member of N'SYNC... This, now that I can pin point it to a specific era, this is when my love for gay boys began.

I had many posters on my bedroom wall during this period: Mandy Moore, 98 degrees, and Sisqo, but none of them were as appealing as my Lance Bass poster. I must have been attracted to his well coiffed hair, brilliant smile and suave attire. A nice gleaming white smile always entrances me. Lance was my choosen member of N'SYNC. Screw Justin Timberlake. It was all about Lance. When it was revealed that he was the gay member of the group, I was not at all surprised.

Those gay boys always get me. Most of the time in public places, when I see a man/boy that I deem attractive, they turn out to be gay. It's kind of a letdown for 2 seconds (as I am straight), but then we just dance it out, and all is better. This is why me and my gay friends co-exist together so well. I am the perfect fag hag. I love being in their gay-tourage when we go to clubs. We get along so well dancing to Britney. Thanks to Lance Bass, I have fully realized my attraction to gay men. Thanks Lance.

That's My DJ!

As music turns more and more "electronic", DJ's will be replacing rock gods. DJ's are the true rockstars of this generation. They party hard, get the people moving, and create a sensation. A lot of them have bigger than life personalities (ie- Steve Aoki). They are the true rockstars. And BURNS does not disappoint.

There's My Tiger!

The Tiger looking fancy busting out of lamborghini
and strutting down the red carpet.
Such a Kodak moment I must indulge.

A Slow Ride is a Good Ride

Yes, Easy Rider, the 1969 classic film that shot Jack Nicholson into the blood stream of America. If you haven't seen this epic, watch it now. It's filled with drugs, bikes and good tunes. What else can you ask for?

The Byrds are a huge part of the soundtrack. "Natural Harmony" is beautifully paired with Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda riding their bikes through the dessert. The Byrds even titled a track "Ballad of Easy Rider".

The plot revolves around two counter culture bikers cross America trek on their motorcycles. The encounter rednecks, hippies living in a commune, bigots, and take a wild acid trip. Though the plot sounds superficial, during it's time, it was saying a lot on the current counter culture craze sweeping the nation. I read the film in the same way as I do Hunter S. Thompson's works: magically superficial on the surface, chillingly satirical sub-surface.

Hand In Glove

The 90's upbringing. Awesome cartoons like Inspector Gadget, Dunkaroo's and Pogs. Although, being a 90's child does have it's drawbacks, like missing out on crucial 80's music. Since I am technically a 90's child, I am late on experiencing the Smiths. I wish it wasn't so.

The Smiths bring that slowly drowning in your own pool of sorrow sound that I like. It's most likely the vocals that bring the effect. The Smiths was the time period when Morrissey was an attractive piece.

My friend says that when she listens to the Smiths, especially the track "Hand in Glove" she feels like suffocating herself in her pillow. That's intense, but that's what the music brings up; intense emotions and tears. I relate The Smiths to Interpol, not sound wise, but rather for the fact that when I hear the music, I imagine dying to that particular track. It's odd to imagine, not suicidal, but romantic. I guess I'm a hopeless romantic...
