Almost on time for once, here is the January playlist. I've never dropped a solely hip hop based playlist so here it is. Legit

"Back that ass up"- Juvenile
I remember when this first came out. This was my first taste of Lil Wayne. It's still a legit hip hop track.

Free Style to Weezy

More than anything right now
I want to be myself-
My true self that loves disco,
And smokes Marlboro's to Edie Sedwick videos on youtube.

I look at photos of things that inspire me and I just want to live.
Live to be myself-
Not anyone's girl, woman or trick.
I just want to be me

The one that gets a boner over vintage
The one that loves bubble tea
The one that just wants to dance in the club free style to Lil Wayne
The one that loves Led Zeppelin and The Byrds more than life
The one that loves western shit and wants to rock a bolo tie.

I want to be myself every day but I always feel like something is holding me back
Maybe it's peoples opinions?
It must be
Because if i let it all go
I would be wearing some fucking fab things.

Or it could be laziness?
Either way I feel that no one understands me.
People accept me but they don't get me except the few loves.

The don' t get that I die to write
That I die to listen to music
That I die to drink wine and have a good conversation
I die to dance to some 80's jam
They don't get it and I probably don't get them

So really I want to show more of myself some how
The easiest way is through dress
I should let it all go, rock a bolo and gaucho.

Here to Stay

There are few things that I am unabashed for.
Most of these things involve musical genres (except Disneyland).
Let's break it down: I love hip hop/rap.
This genre has been with me all along, but not as long as country or classic rock
yet, it seems to be a part of me.
Sometimes, I just want to hear the haggard voice of Lil Wayne
the style of Kanye West
the smoothness of Snoop Dogg
the angst of Eminem.
Sometimes, all I want to do is go out
and bust it down to some old school hip hop.
I don't care what the hipsters say.
I would take Snoop over Beach House any day.
I know that hip hop isn't just a passing trend
where every week there is a new buzz band
that releases one great album then disappears.
Hip hop is hear to stay
and it's riding on the giants shoulders.

Like A Tiger Would

Some songs remind me of my clubbing days, which I hope are not completely over.
Some songs in particular remind me of a certain drug.
When the bass is pumping, the synths are in array, I loose control. Some of these songs just bring back these thoughtless, carnal dance parties.
And it's weird, when listening to these tracks in a full state of mind, I hear new things in the tracks, that I did not notice before.

-"Lollipop"- Lil Wayne
-"Hot N' Cold"- Katy Perry
-"Dangerous"- Kardinal Offishal feat. Akon
-"Let It Rock"- Kevin Rudolf feat. Lil Wayne
-"Buck In Here"- Dj Felli Fell feat. Ludacris, P. Diddy, Akon.

All I can envision, especially in relation to that last track is D-Star and I (My ultimate dance partner) doing round abouts around the club to these songs and having dance offs.
Yeah, let's get Buck in herrreee!

Jimmy Brooks You're Okay By Me

New comer Drake is burning up the charts, but I know him better as Jimmy Brooks from Degrassi:The Next Generation. Jimmy Brooks made Degrassi tolerable, especially when he landed in a wheel chair after the infamous school shooting episode.

Drake made his break with that weak song "Best I Ever Had" which I would consider just as a stepping stone to better things and collaberations. Since Drake has been signed to Lil Wayne's label Young Money, he has been part of some really hot tracks like "Money To Blow", "Forever" and "I'm Going In." Check out former Jimmy Brooks out and maybe get a "champagne shower."
