Ch-Ch-Changes

Sometimes life slows down and gives you a chance to breathe and reflect. Other times it moves at warp speed and if you are lucky, you get a chance to take in the experiences flying your way.

Right now I'm going through a phase of change. It was bound to happen. I was feeling restless in where I was mentally and physically. I'm starting a new job in a few weeks which is a great opportunity in the journalistic sector. People tell me I have to pay my dues before I work at Rolling Stone so this is just on that track. I'm following the path of Hunter Thompson by working at a newspaper, slaving away for the man. And the coolest part is that I get my own column, free reign to write whatever my heart desires.

With this new job, I am required to move to a small town. I feel this is the perfect change for me as I was starting to feel the crush of the city. I was feeling suffocated and yearning for the forest and a slower pace lifestyle and now I'm getting it. The town I am moving to is my mom's home town so there are tons of relatives to visit with and I know my way around. I look forward to running through the forests, frolicing by the river and breathing in that mountain air.

These changes may turn some people off but I really feel they are exactly what I need to breathe. "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you find you get what you need."

If I Were a 14 Year Old Girl

If I was a 14 year old girl, I would definitely be into Never Shout Never.

Christofer Drew records under the alias Never Shout Never, and sings emotionally jarring songs on his guitar. Rolling Stone calls him "Emo's Awkward Prince." I wouldn't label him emo, but I would label his music as something a 14 year old girl would listen to in her room while she draws hearts with a sharpie onto her arms.

In the Rolling Stone write up, Drew somewhat enticed me into checking out his music. The tracks "What is love?" and "On the brightside" are pretty tight.

The one thing that Drew said that got me was this:

"I like to go to Waffle House and read, drink coffee and smoke cigarettes all day." Who doesn't want to do that? It's pretty much my ultimate day except replace Waffle House with IHOP and we are in business!

Shaun White is on the cover of Rolling Stone again!

I now remember why I have a subscription to this magazine.

I can't wait until this arrives in my mailbox!

I remember 5 years ago I use to have a poster of White on the wall of my bedroom. I think I may have to bust that out again.

Check in to Hotel LaChapelle

Hotel LaChapelle, is a book jammed full of surreal works by famed photographer David LaChapelle. His portraits of celebrities give off a dream like atmopshere and they have been featured in Rolling Stone, Vogue and Vanity Fair.

LaChapelle has photographed many celebrities varying from Pamela Anderson to Gene Simmons. His most recently published work is of Lady GaGa which was Rolling Stones June 11th cover.

LaChapelle was also given his first professional assignment by Andy Warhol for Interview Magazine.

Madonna on Gaga

Madonna has this to say about Gaga in a recent Rolling Stone interview (RS 1090). I think it solidifies Gaga's career as a pop star:

Madonna: "I think Lady Gaga is great. When we saw her, I actually felt a kind of recognition. I thought, 'she's got something.' There's something quirky about her... But I can see myself in Lady Gaga. In the early part of my career, for sure. When I saw her, she didn't have a lot of money for her production, she's got holes in her fishnets, and there's mistakes everywhere. It was kind of a mess, but I can see that she's got that It factor. It's nice to see that at a raw stage."

You Want a Piece of Me?

First off, I can truly express how much distaste for I have for Megan Fox being on the cover of the Rolling Stone. Second, what she says in the article is totally bullshit. I suggest to avoid reading it at all costs.

To top it off, I really like what she has to say about flying in airplanes. Apparently Megan is afraid to fly so she listens to Britney Spears on the plane. Her reasoning is that "You are not going to die listening to Britney Spears."

I don't think this is necessarily true, but I would think that it would be horrendously cruel for God to let someone die listening to Britney.

In the past, I would sometimes ask people what music or song they would like to listen to while they die. Various answers ensued. My answer five years ago was "Hello goodbye" by the Beatles. I don't discount this choice, but I have changed my mind.

Lately I've been thinking that while I pass on I would like to listen to the sweet disintegrating sounds of Interpol. That would be oddly beautiful and cynical. Perhaps to "Obstacle 2" or "Narc". Dying to Britney would definitely be ironic, especially to "Toxic" or "Piece of Me".

Death of the Typewriter

Forget Kate Moss, Hunter S. Thompson is in town and here to stay. He showed the typewriter who's boss. He is my idol/muse. From him I'm to learn how to show the keyboard who's the new sheriff in town.

Time to rehash the 'vegas book', pound through his biography and read some of his old articles. It's time to experience Hunter through Hunter's eyes, his writings. Let's just hope this time I survive and come out Gonzofied.

The Glimmer-Bot returns!

All is at buzz that Adam Lambert finally admitted that he was indeed "gay", but this is not getting me excited. What is getting me all in a "twitter" is that Adam Lambert made this admission to RollingStone Magazine and he is going to be on the cover! What a surprise! I can't wait till this arrives in my mailbox as well, but chances are I'm not going to destroy the cover, but rather laugh hysterically in a told you so manner:
