Loving Judas

So you've got it right.

I am secretly (not so secretly now) in love with this track "Judas", especially the video.
I'm taking it in the stylistic metaphorical sense. Not the blasphemous, Jesus hatin' sense.

It looks like Gaga was watching a lot of Sons of Anarchy lately. This video is a cross between that fabulous show and a poorly made life of Jesus film.

I am really digging the chola eyebrows, haijuku nails, and gangster attitude. Leather looks great on Gaga.
The Judas character is hot as fuck and I especially enjoy when he pours beer on Gaga's ass in the bathtub. The Latino Jesus is a great pick. He looks like an ineffectual angel with that crown of thorns.

And don't even get me started on that lipstick gun. My friend said it looked just like a dog penis and I tend to agree.

So kudos to you Gaga for making something equally as sexy as Bad Romance. I'm not down with all your work but it's great to hear a solid pop song every once and a while.

The Lone Ranger

"Time to live
Time to lie
Time to laugh
Time to die

Takes it easy, baby
Take it as it comes
Don't move too fast
And you want your love to last
Oh, you've been movin' much too fast

Time to walk
Time to run
Time to aim your arrows
At the sun

Takes it easy, baby
Take it as it comes
Don't move too fast
And you want your love to last
Oh, you've been movin' much too fast

Go real slow
You like it more and more
Take it as it comes
Specialize in havin' fun

Takes it easy, baby
Take it as it comes
Don't move too fast
And you want your love to last
Oh, you've been movin' much too fast
Movin' much too fast
Movin' much too fast"

Time seems to move too fast around me. Like sand it just slips out of my hands. I never seem to have enough time to savour those precious moments. People come and go and the good ones never seem to stay very long.

Feeling oddly nostalgic tonight, I was cruising facebook looking at old pictures of some great parties and performances from a few years back. They feel and look like the "good old days", but I know that better times are on the way. Tonight could be a great night. Tonight could become one of those great times that I like to reminisce about.

I believe we should not dwell on the past but reflect. Reflect on the good times, analyze the bad, but not dwell on it so much so that it consumes our lives. We should live in the present. After all tonight could be the night...

Here To Stay

I'm not sure how this happened, but somehow The Black Keys and I never connected, even though their sound is right up my alley. Now that I have given them a listen, I am so blown away by the soul aspect of their music, especially with this track "Never Gonna Give You Up." My world is now complete. Black Keys, I'm never gonna give you up!

Spellbound

Just finished watching The Rolling Stones film Sympathy for the Devil. It's directed and written by Goddard so it is one pile of confusing metaphorical shit.

I went into it thinking that it would be Rolling Stone studio footage, and yes, part of it was. But the other half of the film consisted of odd political segments involving graffiti, Nazis, and nudity.

Perhaps Goddard was making political commentary on the world issues of 1968. Perhaps he was saying "something" about the Black Panthers and Marxism. Perhaps the segments made no cohesive statement and confused 95% of the viewers.

The Stones shine through with the recording process of "Sympathy for the Devil." Such a great record and it was great to see the birth of the song on film. My roommate and I got so into it we picked up our own drums and started banging along to the tropical sounding drum beat.

The Tide is High

I've been in Victoria (on Vancouver Island) for six days now. It has really been a healing environment; a true escape from the daily grind. I think I could live out here. Everyday consists of adventures with Wilson(my friends' sprocker spaniel). We walk through parks, climb mountain-scapes, admire the ocean, and frolic in the long grassed meadows. Two days ago Wilson, two of my friends, and I visited the majestic China Beach that is on the east side of the Island. The above photo is of the beach during a misty time( which I did not take, but I will post my photos soon). We visited on a sunny day where we ocean walked, rubbed our bare feet in the sand, smoked a j, and checked out a waterfall that you can only visit when the tide is out. A true treasure of a beach. I am really enjoying the relaxing nature of this island. Just getting use to running on island time.

The Velt

Here's an open letter I wrote for a class that targets PARENTS

Dear Parents:

Do you remember your childhood? When you use to play from dawn to dusk, digging in the sand, running around on the playground, getting covered in dirt and into fights with other children? The streets were filled with kids playing street hockey and soccer. Girls played with their dolls in their front yards. This was the childhood of the past.

Granted, everyone's childhood is respectively different, the childhoods of today are nothing compared to yesteryear. Kids no longer play outside but are rather stuck inside in front of the TV and computer. They live in artificial worlds. They lack social skills, conflict resolution and physical activity.

And whose fault if this? Who should we blame? It's you, the parents of today.

You teach your children that it is okay to sit inside all day. They are more interested in living indoors than riding a bike. You teach them that it's okay to sit on the couch. No wonder many children are considered obese.

You teach them to live in fear of the outdoors. "If you go outside bobby, someone will snatch you from our front yard!" Teaching them to live in fear is only destroying their self esteem and I think crippling them for life.

I am really concerned how these new generation children, when they are in early adulthood will adapt to society.

They lack imagination and motivation, though they will surpass every other generation in their knowledge of technology. For they don't know a world that didn't have a computer in it. All they know is Iphones, text messages and instant communication.

They are the most plagued generation with peanut and food coloring allergies. They have many illnesses like autism, ADD, ADHD. In the past, if a child was "hyper active", we sent them outdoors to play and interact with others.

So parents, I think we owe are children more than a life indoors. Let's get them outside; out moving and socializing with their peers. Let them breathe in some fresh air and get their hands dirty. That's real life. Not playing video games or letting a TV act as a babysitter.

(Side note: This fear of losing childhood is not new. In Ray Bradbury's short story The Velt he wrote about a family who allowed a house to babysit the children. In the end embracing technology was their demise.)
