It's the American Dream...

Say Ola to Marina and the Diamonds. Straight out of London, Marina Diamandis does pop the right way with top notch vocals, infectious beats, and a message. On her myspace page, she writes:

"Do you think that when people take pictures of the characters at disney world they smile behind their masks?

I'm Marina

You are the diamonds."

Her album drops soon, but in the meantime check out these two remixes of the single
"Hollywood"

The infamous Comic Con in Sandiego. Wishing I was there, mainly in this photo booth.

"Gold is another word for culture"

This album is insane. So good. I have this on vinyl and I can't stop playing it. It's the type of album that grows on you. Start out on "DLZ" or "Golden Age" and then progress to "Dancing Choose" or "Red Dress". Dear Science was listed by RollingStone and Spin as the top album of 2008. Definitely TV On the Radio's best.

The "Kindergarten Naptime of the Third Kind"

Lately I've been obsessing about something I read listed in Rolling Stone's Hot List. This is an excerpt from the write up:

"He books a 'sound bath' at the Integratron - an acoustically perfect wooden dome in California's Mojave Desert. During an hour session ($55), visitors lie on mats in the center of the room while a sound therapist plays tones on quartz-crystal bowls."

A description of what exactly a "Sound Bath" is from the Integratron's website:

"The Sound Bath is a 30-minute sonic healing session that you can experience while resting comfortably in the Integratron's highly resonant, multi-wave sound chamber. We play 9 quartz crystal singing bowls live, each one keyed to the energy centers or chakras of the body, where sound is nutrition for the nervous system. Imagine lying on comfy mats in the center of this relaxing and resonant high-energy field, while having your body bathed in exquisite sound for 30 minutes. The results are waves of peace, heightened awareness, and relaxation of the mind and body."

The more I read about this "Sound Bath", the more I am enticed to go experience it for myself. You can book a private "Sound Bath" or attend a Public one that is only $10. This sounds like a magical experience, but as we know I can't take a "Sound Bath" right now so instead I will have my own lying on a yoga mat in my room listening to "Love Like a Sunset Pt. 1" by Phoenix  and drift off the astral plane...

Not so Lonely anymore

This post is dedicated to The Lonely Island, my current obsession.

http://www.thelonelyisland.com/contact/

These dudes are hilarious and I have loads of respect for their creativity and the shit they have created so far. They have single handedly revamped SNL (mainly with the digital shorts) and created some of the most popular viral videos to date ("I'm on a Boat", "Jizz in my pants", "Lazy Sunday", "Dick in a box"... etc.) And not to mention the greatness that is Hot Rod., which tanked at the box office but is kind of becoming an underground cult classic. The lonely Island has me hooked in a major way, not to mention the obsession within an obsession I have with Andy Samberg. He is gorgeous beyond belief, and he is also hosting the MTV Movie Awards this Sunday so tune in!

"I'm on a boat" is becoming a cultural phenomenon. People all over are treating it along with "Jizz in my pants" as a top 40 hit and are blasting it from their cars and dancing to it at clubs. And speaking of clubs, I was at this highly respectable club last month and when "I'm on a boat" came on, 2 of the tranny ambassadors that prowl that club got up on the speakers and danced around. Trannys dancing to "I'm on a Boat!" This is my dream in a nutshell.

Speaking of The Lonely Island hits, my all time favorite song/video has to be "Stork Patrol". It is definitely the most catchy, and it's fucking hilarious. My only question is who is in that sexy bird suit?

My love runs deep for these dudes and I only hope that they go on to create more works of genius. But when I look into my crystal ball, I forsee that they will eventually split up (in the next 3 years) and go onto stardom in their own right. Especially Mr. Samberg, who I think is already quite legit.
