Rod Stewart, Disco King

If you really need me
Just reach out and touch me
Come on and tell me so...

Long live Rod Stewart
The disco king of my dreams

When You Were Young...

I dream of a land of cacti and Mexican cowboys. Sunsets and canyons.
One of my favourite songs by The Killers, "When you were young".

He doesn't look a thing like Jesus
But he talks like a gentlemen
Like you imagined when
You were young...

He Was A Friend Of Mine

Former member of The Byrds, Gram Parsons helped
pioneer country rock (in a loose sense) before the Eagles.
After he left The Byrds, he, along with Chris Hillman
formed The Flying Burrito Brothers.

"Parsons grabbed his bandmates and headed straight to
Nudie's Rodeo Tailors to create a visual experience
to go along wit the audio. Manuel, Nudie's assistant,
decked them out eleborately, including a jacket with
embroidered marijuana leaves for Parsons who
had a penchant for that, among other drugs. "

"Cosmic American Music" was the term Hillman and Parsons
coined for their new breed of music.
Others may call it country rock.
Whatever the term used,
Gram was a special soul in that Nudie suit.

Wild Horses

The adventure in Joshua Tree
Take your poncho and peyote
Relax
and look up into the great unknown.

I Am Human and I Need To Be Loved

One of my favourite songs of all time.
A live clip of "How soon is now" by The Smiths.

With Flowers In Her Hair...

With flowers in her hair
she wears a smile
a true beauty
a kindred spirit
of another time

3rd Rock to my Heart...

I've almost busted up my twitter account this weekend by
ranting about how great the film Inception is.
It is the best thing I've seen in the past five years.
And one of the best things in it
is Joseph Gordan Levitt
who plays the daper character Arthur.
He is so suave and sexy in this film
that I have developed a distinct crush on him.
And that 500 Days of Summer film didn't help either.

Rufi-OOOO!

The Glamazon that is Adam Lambert has created a new epic. This video combines two worlds: one of Neverland and one of fairies( insert double meaning here).
The atmosphere looks like that the fairy forrest where they rave to trace music and swing hoola hoops around. A cross between Shambhala and Burning Man.
And Adam looks like he stole some of Rufio's wardrobe from the film Hook.
This song is so prime. My inner-gay-glamazon busts out to this one for sure.

Hot Tramp, I love You So...

Kirsten Stewart
She has grown on me.
I use to think she was the shittiest actress around
With all her lip biting and hair flipping.
But now I see the beauty
of her "I'm not trying attitude"
Especially after The Runaways.
I approve.

Digital Love

I still don't know how to feel about
digital music.
Making the complete conversion seems painstaking.
However, I don't think I will disown it completely like Prince.
Sometimes it just feels good to have something
real in your hands.
The concrete beauty of vinyl
and liner notes.

Burning Embers, I Remember

Summer's by the campfire, how I long for thee.
This track called "November" by The Wilderness of Manitoba is the most beautiful thing I have heard this summer. Wonderful harmonies and Cowichan sweaters. I love the Canadian-ness of it.

Golden God

Oh my. The golden god that is Robert Plant.
I have to admit that in my fondest day dreams, I imagine that he is my father and we ride around in the Led Zeppelin- mobile all through the English country side together...

Anyways, in connection with my favourite vocalist (like Tori Amos), I must bring up my #1 which is Robert Plant. His voice is just pure ecstasy and magic. I don't care what type of music he is singing, whether it's with Led Zeppelin or country with Alison Krauss, his voice is beyond epic. I love him so much, that I am rendered to childlike words, like saying that he is epic. No one can touch him vocally. That's all I can say.

Some other great vocalists that I truly enjoy, in the ranks of Robert, maybe, are:

Andrew Stockdale from Wolfmother. The track he does with Slash ("By the sword") is just spellbinding.

Adam Lambert. He has a crazy, crazy vocal range. He is sassy, sexy, glam, and I am so glad he has severed his ties from American Idol.

Cedric Bixler- Xavala from The Mars Volta and At the Drive-In. He is exhilarating. So much energy and power rolled into a sexy Mexican singing machine. Who else can wail like him and sound sexy? Try singing along to "Goliath". Just try.

Pink. She is often overlooked because she is not a diva like Mariah Carey or Beyonce, but she is more real. Pink is quite a powerful vocalist and she is so real, it hurts to listen to her music. She rips out my heart with her emotional singing.

Anthony Keidis. Another overlooked vocalist. I know he wouldn't be on most peoples top list, but he is one of my most beloved. When he sings "Scar Tissue" I feel it. He started out rapping and now has grown into a true blue vocalist. Such a veteran.

And last, not least Julian Casablancas. I didn't realize I was so in love with his voice until he was absent for 4 years and then he release a solo album. It felt so good to hear that wonderful voice on some new tracks. And now I can't get enough. He has such a iconic voice.

Thanks Bam

Some where, some how, across the musical plains, I came across the great Tori Amos.
What an epic, explosive vocalist. One of my top singer/song writers/ vocalists.
I think my meeting with Miss Amos came through, out of all people, Bam Margera. In an interview he mentioned he was into Tori Amos, and at the time I thought all of Bam's words were equal to words from the bible. So I found a cd of her's in the library and haven't looked back. I'm glad I took his suggestion. So glad, because my journey with Miss Amos has been one of the best musical experiences to date.

You Are Home

Almost Famous. My most favourite film of all time.
What do I love about this movie?

I love how most of it is based on things that actually happened in rock and roll history. It's a conglomerate of Cameron Crows life/ Led Zeppelin/ The Alleman Brothers/Pamela DeBarres.
It's about decadence, you know, drugs, sex and rock and roll.

This film inspired me to be a journalist. I want to be the enemy. I want to be honest and unmerciful when I write. I want to be living in this Almost Famous world.
The above is a clip from the film of a bonding sess. over Elton John. Here I am home.

Yes Sir, Snoopy Snacks

Combining two of my greatest loves, Snoop Dogg (So Smooth) and Pharrell (So hot) together. This track isn't the greatest, see "Drop it like it's hot", but the video is pretty neat. Complete with leopard print lamps, afro's and Snoop's snacks, it's really a pleasure to watch. And when Pharrell says "Yes sir", I die a little...

Yard Sale a la Cobra Snake

The Cobra Snake yard sales it up
with Krystal Simpson and Steve Aoki.
The Cobra Snake looks snazzy in his
all white ensemble with birkenstocks.
And the White Snow Leopard
is a fine specimen as usual.
L.A. times...

Hybrid

I'm a hybrid. Like this lion like Mick Jagger. Lion like fierceness. I'm on the cusp, both Virgo and Leo. People always say that my Leo side shows, but I think I sway more to the Virgo side of things. Here's what some Virgo write up says about me:

"You may seem cold and detached, yet at times you can actually be quite outgoing. This is because your perception is your reality. If you have a negative outlook, your life will include negative twists and turns and you will often retreat into your inner feelings. If you have a positive outlook, your life will feel positive and you will be a more pleasant, upbeat person to be around. You are sensitive to your surroundings, but you don't like to analyze your feelings. You are inclined to tell people that everything is going well, even when it is not.

You appear calm to friends and family, but inside you are always analyzing and thinking with a high degree of nervous energy. You can tire yourself out without even moving. You have a constant need to perfect, which can easily lead to you being perceived as picky and finicky by your family and friends.

Some people might think that you are indecisive or slow to make a decision. In fact, you are just taking your time to weigh all the facts before you decide what you are going to do. You are very good at problem-solving because you like to separate all the elements, think about each one and then slowly put them back together again to determine what they all mean. Your rational thinking often frustrates other people

You have charm and dignity, and you appear to be cheerful and agreeable. People seek you out to be your friend, but they sense that it is best to wait until you show you're ready. Once you do, they will appreciate your truthfulness, loyalty and determination

Virgos like planned dates – nothing spontaneous. You tend to embarrass easily. You worry about what is going to happen or be discussed on dates and in relationships. You don't like people probing your mind and asking you a lot of questions until you have formed a strong relationship with them. Even then, you do not."

Not all of this fits, but mainly the part that says my perception is my reality. This is so true. I always forget this. I always forget that not everyone sees things the exact way I do.

To The Chokey With You!

My favourite Trick is heading to the chokey. Yesterday Blohan was sentenced to 90 days in jail and 90 days in rehab. They say she will only serve close to 25% of her jail time.

When I heard this news, I was a little surprised and felt some compassion. But then I saw the video of Lindsay crying in the court room and I began to laugh hysterically. I lost control. But really, I will miss Lindsay's shenanigans while she is in jail. Who else will I call trick and secretly admire?

Like I Do..

My #1 summer jam is this track "Come With Me" by Ceo. Frolics unite!
The accompanying video is beautiful, However; I do apologize for the "I cut myself imagery."
