OJ and Kush

"Black and Yellow" (re-mix) feat. Snoop Dogg- Wiz Khalifa

There is something about this track that has me hooked.
Is is that Snoop is in it?
It is defiantly not because of T-pain of Juicy J.
Could it be that the chorus is fucking catchy?
Or that it is about the Steelers?
Nah, I think it is just a straight up hip hop track that can stand next to "Monster" and "6 ft 7"

Straight Outta Rap City

This is a Classic!
"Classic"- Kanye West, Rakim, KRS-One, Nas, &DJ Premier
It's my dream to get down to this track.

My love for hip hop is broad and it's something that I always try to keep under raps.
But when I go out to dance, what I really want to hear is some electro house
or old school hip hop. Nothing else.
My love from hip hop comes from my babysitting days.
After the kids went to sleep, I had free reign over the tv.
And I was one of those kids without cable tv.
So when I had 7 hours to waste watching it, of course I would
put it on Muchmusic and leave it there streaming pop hits.
Muchmusic use to have this stream called "Rapcity"
and this is where my love was conceived.
Straight outta Rapcity.
My love for Snoop, Dr. Dre, KRS-One, Eminem, 2Pac, Biggie Smalls, Kanye, Ice Cube, Pharrell, Jay-Z, Outkast, Run, DMX, Nate Dogg, Ice T, Nelly, Luda , LL Cool J and the great, great, great Missi Elliot was birthed here.
Fuck man, bless that Rap City.

Sexual Eruption

I've wanted to post this for so long. Snoop Dogg is the shit.

A while back I had a dream, that when he was in my home town,
I went to the after party and found him chilling in a purple suit.
I sat beside him and he told me in that sensually smooth voice
that I was now his official hat carrier, and he handed me his purple velvet
hat that had a feather in it.
I was in the inner Snoop circle.
His personal hat carrier.
What a title! What a dream.
The best part was Snoop was dressed as the pimp character he played in Starsky and Hutch.
Straight up G.

Here to Stay

There are few things that I am unabashed for.
Most of these things involve musical genres (except Disneyland).
Let's break it down: I love hip hop/rap.
This genre has been with me all along, but not as long as country or classic rock
yet, it seems to be a part of me.
Sometimes, I just want to hear the haggard voice of Lil Wayne
the style of Kanye West
the smoothness of Snoop Dogg
the angst of Eminem.
Sometimes, all I want to do is go out
and bust it down to some old school hip hop.
I don't care what the hipsters say.
I would take Snoop over Beach House any day.
I know that hip hop isn't just a passing trend
where every week there is a new buzz band
that releases one great album then disappears.
Hip hop is hear to stay
and it's riding on the giants shoulders.

Crocodile Dandy

Who is James Goldstein?
Who is this fabulous crocodile wearing dandy
who frequents NBA games like he's a gold digger.

I saw a segment about him on Fashion Television
and I was blown away with his style and his home
which he designed himself.
His home has been host to many photo shoots and
music videos, especially Snoop and Pharell's video for
"Let's Get Blown."

James describes himself with 3 words:
fashion, architecture, basketball.
Check out his website here
and read an interview with James for Interview magazine here
Mr. Warhol would be proud.

Always Going To Be Golden

Kid Cudi- "The Pursuit of Happiness"

Kid Cudi is next to Snoop Dogg on stoner/reflective hip hop tracks. This song has a lot of power and emotion to it, and the music is spellbinding. I think Cudi goes deeper in this song than most hip hop tracks go. By the end, it feels like it was a mistake to pursue "happiness" at all.

Yes Sir, Snoopy Snacks

Combining two of my greatest loves, Snoop Dogg (So Smooth) and Pharrell (So hot) together. This track isn't the greatest, see "Drop it like it's hot", but the video is pretty neat. Complete with leopard print lamps, afro's and Snoop's snacks, it's really a pleasure to watch. And when Pharrell says "Yes sir", I die a little...

Let's do the THYME WARP again...

Roller derby is all the craze in my house.
It all began with that Drew Barrymore epic WHIP IT, and it has now expanded into attending games, buying merch and supplies, and thinking up derby names for one self. Shame on you Ellen Page for playing a misfit girl who gets enraptured into the world of roller derby so well that it has convinced my 16 year old sister that she can do the same.

My sister has coined the derby name "Animal- Crack-her" for herself. Mine is less fierce.I suggested that my derby name be "Thyme Warp" as in connection with my blog and internet persona. At games, when the announcer introduces me to the crowd, Biker Bill the DJ would put on the song "Time Warp" from The Rock Horror Picture Show. I would skate around to it and then stop and do that dance. Yes, it sounds perfect in my mind, but my sister told me, it's not fierce enough.

My second choice would be "Malice in Wonderland" and ode to Snoop Dogg and my dear friend Alice who fell down the rabbit hole. But i'm quite positve this name is taken, so this leaves me without a fierce derby name. I'm left without an identity...
